Former President Donald Trump dropped some big-time criticism of his 2020 and likely 2024 opponent, President Joe Biden, over Christmas, taking to his Truth Social platform to lodge some holiday-themed complaints.
“It’s hard to have a truly great Christmas when you have a Crooked and Incompetent President who wants to put his Political Opponent in jail, and who has been working hard (for a change!), illegally using all of the levers of Law Enforcement, to do so,” Trump wrote Christmas morning on the platform. “We are in the fight of our lives to save our Country from MADNESS & DOOM. MAGA 2024!!!”
Trump is facing a minimum of nine legal challenges, including both criminal and civil cases. Many of these were filed by Special Counsel Jack Smith, who the Justice Department appointed under President Biden. There has been relatively little communication from Robert Hur, the special counsel appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate Biden’s possession of classified documents at two different locations.
Trump also said Monday on Truth Social, using all capital letters, that 2024 will be remembered: “AS THE YEAR OF GREAT AND FULLY COORDINATED ILLEGAL ELECTION INTERFERENCE BY CROOKED JOE BIDEN, THE WORST AND MOST CORRUPT PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES.”
Despite his legal challenges, however, Trump predicted that, in the end, he and his allies will ultimately win.
“IN THE END, THERE WILL BE A BIG AND GLORIOUS VICTORY FOR THOSE BRAVE AND VALIANT PATRIOTS WHO WANT TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!” he noted, also in all caps.
Trump is also facing a major constitutional challenge to his 2024 candidacy.
In a 4-3 ruling, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled to exclude Trump from the state’s primary ballot next year, a decision that has drawn dissent from one of the Democrat-appointed justices, Carlos Samour.
He argued that the decision undermines a “bedrock principle” of American democracy – the due process doctrine.
