GOP Lawmakers 'Swatted' Over Christmas Holiday

At least two Republican lawmakers were “swatted” over the Christmas holiday, with one of them saying that it was her “eighth time” having to endure the dangerous harassment.

In an X post on Monday, Rep. Brandon Williams (R-NY) announced, “Our home was swatted this afternoon. Thanks to the Deputies and Troopers who contacted me before arriving. They left with homemade cookies and spiced nuts! Merry Christmas everyone!”

In a follow-up post, he wrote: “Capitol Police & local police are investigating the Swatting incident at our home on this Christmas Day. Thankful for law enforcement working today (& every day). 5 cars responded to our home. The deputies & troopers were polite, professional, & prompt. God bless them.”

Mediaite reported:

Swatting — the act of making a false police report with the intention that the victim receives a visit from armed law enforcement — has been used against many public figures, including former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon and podcast host Tim Pool, and has even resulted in death.

By far, based on public reports, Republican lawmakers are swatted more than Democrats.

Meanwhile, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) also reported being swatted on Christmas Day.

Rome, Ga., police were called again to Taylor’s home for an alleged emergency shortly before noon, the New York Post confirmed.

According to the report, someone called into the emergency dispatch center and claimed he shot his girlfriend while threatening suicide himself.

“Our team in their response … coordinated with her security detail and it was determined that there was no emergency and that she was safe,” the spokesperson told The Post. “Our response was actually canceled en route.”

“I was just swatted. This is like the 8th time,” Greene posted on the X platform. “On Christmas with my family here. My local police are the GREATEST and shouldn’t have to deal with this.

“I appreciate them so much and my family and I are in joyous spirits celebrating the birth of our savior Jesus Christ!” she added.
