President-elect Donald Trump unveiled several high-profile appointments to his incoming administration on Wednesday, naming individuals to lead key roles in the Army, trade policy, hostage negotiations, and NASA.
Army Secretary: Daniel P. Driscoll
Daniel P. Driscoll, a U.S. Army veteran and venture capitalist from North Carolina, will serve as Secretary of the Army. Driscoll, a senior adviser to Vice President-elect JD Vance, previously served as a Cavalry Scout Platoon Leader with the 10th Mountain Division during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
“I am pleased to nominate Daniel P. Driscoll, from the Great State of North Carolina, to serve as the Secretary of the Army. As a former Soldier, Investor, and Political Advisor, Dan brings a powerful combination of experiences to serve as a disruptor and change agent,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trade and Manufacturing: Peter Navarro Returns
Peter Navarro, who previously served as Trump’s trade adviser, will resume his role as Senior Counsel for Trade and Manufacturing. Despite a misdemeanor contempt of Congress conviction, for which he served four months in federal prison, Trump lauded Navarro’s contributions during his first term.
“I am pleased to announce that Peter Navarro, a man who was treated horribly by the Deep State, or whatever else you would like to call it, will serve as my Senior Counselor for Trade and Manufacturing,” Trump stated. “Few were more effective or tenacious than Peter in enforcing my two sacred rules, Buy American, Hire American.”
Hostage Envoy: Adam Boehler
Adam Boehler, a businessman and former government official, has been tapped as Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs, holding the rank of ambassador. Boehler previously served as CEO of the U.S. Development Finance Corporation and played a significant role in negotiating the Abraham Accords.
“He has negotiated with some of the toughest people in the World, including the Taliban,” Trump said, “but Adam knows that NO ONE is tougher than the United States of America, at least when President Trump is its Leader.”
NASA Administrator: Jared Isaacman
Billionaire Jared Isaacman, a private astronaut and CEO of Shift4Payments, will head NASA. Isaacman, a close associate of Elon Musk, also leads Polaris, a program conducting private astronaut missions using SpaceX vehicles.
“I am delighted to nominate Jared Isaacman, an accomplished business leader, philanthropist, pilot, and astronaut, as Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA),” Trump said, highlighting Isaacman’s contributions to the aerospace industry and financial technology.
