President Trump Declares “America’s Decline Is Over” In Inaugural Address for Second Term

President Donald Trump delivered an emphatic inaugural address on Monday, proclaiming that a “tide of change” is sweeping across the United States and marking the beginning of what he called a “new era of national success.” Expressing optimism about the nation’s future, Trump declared, “The golden age of America begins right now,” promising to prioritize the country’s prosperity, security, and global respect.
Sworn in as the 47th president, Trump assured Americans that his administration would reclaim U.S. sovereignty, restore safety, and address what he described as the weaponization of government institutions. “The scales of justice will be rebalanced,” Trump stated, pledging to put an end to political targeting and focus on fairness. He vowed to annihilate the challenges facing the nation with “great momentum” and reaffirmed his commitment to “put America first.”
Trump addressed a “crisis of trust” in government, framing his re-election as a mandate to reverse past betrayals and restore faith in the nation’s institutions. “America’s decline is over,” he declared, emphasizing his goal to rebuild wealth, democracy, and freedom.
Due to an arctic blast hitting Washington, D.C., the inaugural ceremony was held indoors at the Capitol Rotunda, marking the first such occurrence in four decades.
Trump, who secured both the Electoral College and popular vote in a decisive victory over former Vice President Kamala Harris, described his second term as the dawn of “the golden age of America.” His campaign was marked by dramatic twists, including President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race after a poor debate performance and significant internal pressure from Democratic leaders. Biden’s decision elevated Harris to the top of the Democratic ticket, setting the stage for her defeat.
Adding to the tumult, Trump survived an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024. The attack occurred as he presented data highlighting the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of illegal immigration. The would-be assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired a shot that grazed Trump’s right ear. Trump, undeterred, continued his campaign and attributed his resilience to the support of the American people.
On his first day back in office, Trump is expected to issue over 200 executive actions targeting border security, energy independence, cost-of-living reductions, and the elimination of federal DEI programs, among other priorities. His administration has signaled an ambitious agenda aimed at reshaping U.S. policies domestically and internationally.
