Man Arrested for Firebombing Tesla Dealership, Faces Federal Charges

A man accused of throwing an incendiary device at a Tesla dealership in Colorado has been arrested and now faces federal charges, officials said Monday.

Cooper Jo Fredrick, 24, was taken into custody in Plano, Texas, after allegedly attacking a Tesla dealership in Loveland, Colorado, on March 7, according to Attorney General Pam Bondi, reports Fox.

“Let this be a warning. You can run, but you cannot hide,” Bondi said in a video message. “Justice is coming.”

Authorities say Fredrick, who is from Fort Collins, Colorado, set fire to an explosive device and threw it at the dealership. The device landed between two cars and started a fire, police said. Several people were inside the building at the time, but an officer on the scene quickly put out the flames before anyone was hurt.

Along with the fire damage, rocks were also thrown at the building and multiple vehicles, causing additional destruction, according to police.

“I’ve made it clear (that) if you take part in the wave of domestic terrorism against Tesla properties, we will find you, arrest you and put you behind bars,” Bondi said. “All of these cases are a serious threat to public safety. Therefore, there will be no negotiation.”

Fredrick was arrested a week after the incident. Federal prosecutors are pushing for a 20-year prison sentence, Bondi said.

He also faces local charges, including second-degree arson and possession of explosives or incendiary devices.

Fredrick is one of several people charged in connection with attacks on Tesla dealerships and factories in recent weeks. The attacks seem to be linked to frustration over Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his involvement with the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Another suspect, Lucy Grace Nelson, 42, also known as Justin Thomas Nelson, is facing charges for a separate incident at the same Loveland dealership on Feb. 27.

In response to the attacks, the FBI has teamed up with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) to form a task force aimed at stopping the violence. The group will coordinate investigations and crack down on those involved in these crimes.
