Jim Jordan: Indictment Of FBI Informant ‘Doesn’t Change The Fundamental Facts’ Of Burisma Allegations

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) pushed back on left-wing Democrats and political pundits after a key witness in the Burisma investigation his committee has launched implicating the Bidens in illicit business dealings was outed as a Russian agent.
Reports last week noted that the key witness House Republicans relied on may have lied to the FBI and could also be connected to Russian intelligence ahead of testimony from the president’s brother, James Biden, on Wednesday.
“It doesn’t change the fundamental facts,” Jordan said. “There are four fundamental facts. Hunter Biden gets put on the board of Burisma; he’s not qualified to be on the board and gets paid a million dollars a year.
“Second, he said himself he was not qualified. Third, in Dubai on December 4, 2015, executives at Buirisma… specifically asked Hunter Biden to ‘weigh in in DC’ and help with pressure from the prosecutor-general in Ukraine,” Jordan continued.
“Hunter Biden makes a call to his dad, and then three days later, Joe Biden goes to Ukraine and conditions the release of American tax money on the firing of the prosecutor applying pressure to the company that Hunter Biden sat on the board of. Those facts don’t change,” he added.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump Jr. suggested that the “deep state” might have had a hand in outing the informant to protect Biden.
“David Weiss, the special counsel appointed by Joe Biden, just indicted the informant who claimed that Burisma bribed the Bidens. What do you make of this indictment, and what can you tell us in the context of all of your other reporting? Because, I mean, this just seems like literally, you know, deep-state retribution at this point. I, you know, I remember a time where all informants, all people, all people who are willing to, come out there and say something about the president, especially as it related to potential corruption, were treated as heroes, and this seems very different,” he said to guest and Just the News founding editor John Solomon during Trump Jr.’s podcast last week.
“Yeah. Listen. This is a long line of informants who have blown up on the FBI. Now whether or not people will believe what David Weiss charges depends on the evidence. Right?” Solomon began.
“But let’s suppose the worst-case scenario for Mr. Smirnov, that there’s really strong evidence against this. What we now know is the very FBI that went after you because of the Trump Tower allegations that turned out to be a big nothingburger — went after your dad and created the illusion of collusion when there was not an iota of it there. We now know that from John Durham. The FBI is in a really terrible state, and three of the most famous informants in its history, Christopher Steele, Igor Danchenko, and now this man, Mr. Smirnov, if the final narrative of the Justice Department turns out to be true, all 3 of them bamboozled our premier law enforcement agency,” Solomon continued.
“And I’ve been raising a red flag about the FBI for a long time. The people in the FBI, many of them are so good. They’re good agents. But this agency is really in distress,” he added.
