Illegal Immigrant Soccer Coach Charged With Murder of 13-Year-Old Player In California

A youth soccer coach in California has been arrested and charged with the murder of a 13-year-old boy, who had been reported missing. The suspect, 43-year-old Mario Edgardo Garcia-Aquino, is an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, according to multiple law enforcement sources who spoke with Fox News.

Garcia-Aquino is accused of killing Oscar “Omar” Hernandez, a player on his youth soccer team. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.

Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman explained at a press conference that Omar traveled to Lancaster on March 28 to meet Garcia-Aquino but never came back. “The victim’s body was discovered in Oxnard off a road near Leo Carillo State Beach on April 2.”

“No parent should ever have to endure the unimaginable pain and sorrow of learning their child has been murdered. Oscar simply boarded a train, and little did he or his family know that he would never return,” said Hochman.

Garcia-Aquino has been charged with one count of murder with a special circumstance of murder during the commission or attempted commission of lewd acts with a child. If convicted, he could get life in prison without parole or even the death penalty, according to the DA’s office.

On top of that, prosecutors filed new charges Monday in connection to a separate case from February 2024 in Palmdale. Garcia-Aquino is facing one felony count of assault with the intent to commit a sexual offense involving a 16-year-old boy.

Officials haven’t said when Garcia-Aquino illegally entered the United States. Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin told Fox News, “Omar Hernandez was an innocent child who was exploited and killed by this depraved illegal alien who should have never been in this country.”

“Under President Trump and Secretary Noem’s leadership, child predators, pedophiles, and murderers will be hunted down and removed from America’s communities,” said McLaughlin.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna also commented on the case. “There is no excuse for these types of crimes. We will continue to pursue justice and work tirelessly to ensure we bring closure to the victims and their families, while ensuring that such individuals face the full extent of the law.”

Luna said Garcia-Aquino coached for the Hurricane Valley Boys Soccer Club in Sylmar and had no previous criminal record. Authorities are urging anyone who may be a victim to contact the LAPD’s juvenile division abused child unit.
