In response to the House of Representatives passing a resolution formalizing the impeachment inquiry into him, President Joe Biden labeled the inquiry as “baseless.”

Instead of addressing concerns raised by Republicans about his actions, Biden accused them of hindering his administration’s efforts to address the southern border crisis.

In a statement, Biden asserted the need for Congress to focus on important national and global priorities, emphasizing the requirement for funding to enhance border security.

“The American people need their leaders in Congress to take action on important priorities for the nation and world,” Biden said. “We need funding to strengthen border security, but Republicans in Congress won’t act to help.”

“Instead of doing anything to help make Americans’ lives better, they are focused on attacking me with lies,” he wrote. “Instead of doing their job on the urgent work that needs to be done, they are choosing to waste time on this baseless political stunt that even Republicans in Congress admit is not supported by facts.”

He criticized Republicans for not taking action to assist in this matter and accused them of prioritizing attacks against him with false claims.

Biden characterized the impeachment inquiry as a “baseless political stunt” that even some Republicans in Congress acknowledge lacks factual support. Concluding his response, Biden expressed frustration with lawmakers for diverting attention from urgent tasks and stated that Americans “deserve better.” The House voted 221 to 212 on HR 918, with all Republicans supporting the resolution and all Democrats voting against it. The resolution directs certain committees to continue ongoing investigations as part of the existing House inquiry into whether grounds exist for impeaching President Biden.
