It has to be tough to defend the indefensible, especially when you have to insist the Titanic is not sinking.
That is the case for Democrat presidential nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz spokesman Ian Sams who faced off with Fox News host Martha MacCallum on Tuesday about the campaign’s lagging support with males.
“You hear Tim Walz reaching out to men and saying I don’t believe there is this gender gap, and you see where she’s going to talk with voters over the coming days and she is reaching out to that male voter. So why do you think she has lost six points since 2020 with male voters? Why do you think that is? What’s behind that?” she said.
“Well I think we’ll see in 3 weeks when the votes get counted what the actual gender gap split is and I think right now you can ask the exact same question, which is why Donald Trump is losing women by exponentially more than in 2020,” the spokesman said, which led the host to repeat the question.
“Well I don’t think that the national polls necessarily reflect an accurate snapshot. I think that in each battleground state, we’re seeing different numbers, we’re seeing her grow her support. The longer she talks about her ideas, including her economic ideas for the middle class, I think she’s growing that support every single day,” he said.
The host pointed to the fact that the vice president has been doing more appearances on podcasts that are popular with men like “The Breakfast Club” and a rumored appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience.”
“Okay, so you’re saying it’s not happening,” the host said. “We’ll see, but she’s clearly spending a lot of time trying to reach those male voters and she has said ‘that I know I have to earn those male votes’ and clearly that seems to be one of the priorities for the campaign.”
