Woke Activists Make Absurd Demand: Don't Assign Genders to Human Archaeological Finds

The left-wing woke lunacy continues to spread to disciplines like science, biology, and now, archeology.

According to the Daily Mail, far-left activists are now demanding that human archaeological finds are not assigned a gender because you know, there’s no way to determine if ancient cultures were focused on such distinctions (there is, of course).

The American Wire, citing the Daily Mail’s report, notes:

More and more ancient skeletons are being designated as “non-binary” or “gender-neutral” by virtue-signaling academics in a trend that critics rightly say will result in the rewriting of history and impose an anachronistic ideology on cultures that likely never worried about which pronouns to use.

“It is an absurd proposition, as the difference between genders, just as the difference between religious, social, and national groups, are key motors in history,” Jeremy Black, emeritus professor of history at the University of Exeter in South West England, told the UK outlet.

“This very ideological approach to knowledge means that we’re in danger of making knowledge itself simply a matter of political preference,” Black added.

Among the far-left activists seeking to literally destroy the field of archeology is a group called the Black Trowel Collective, which bills itself as a collection of “anarchist archeologists” (the operative word here is ‘anarchist’) who insisted that “archaeologists must center the fluidity of gender in their archaeological practice.”

In a manifesto regarding “trans liberation,” the group argues, “It is clear from archaeological, historical, and ethnographic accounts that human gender is highly variable and that human beings have historically been comfortable with a range of genders beyond modern ‘masculine’ and ‘feminine’ binaries.”

Naturally, there is American leftist influence in this craziness.

A U.S. study that was released earlier this year actually claimed that classifying remains by race is “dangerous” because “ancestry estimation contributes to white supremacy” and “might actually hinder identification efforts because of entrenched racial biases.”

What garbage. Most of the early empires and great civilizations belonged to Asians and Middle Eastern cultures, not ‘whites.’

The Daily Mail listed examples of this stupidity, including a case involving European researchers and archeologists who concluded last year in Finland that a 1,000-year-old skeleton was the remains of a ‘non-binary’ individual because feminine jewelry was found with a ‘masculine’ sword along with the bones.

Never mind that women were often very powerful warriors in Nordic cultures. Also, archeologists can distinguish male and female skeletal remains, so obviously, this ‘find’ has been politicized by left-wing culture hacks.

Frank Furedi, emeritus professor of sociology at the University of Kent, says the latest “frontier” for those pushing radical gender ideology is historical fact, and it cannot be allowed to take hold in any way, shape, or form.

“If you look at history, one of the foundations of civilization is the distinction between man and woman, whether it be in the Bible or yin and yang in Chinese philosophy, so when you distort that, you get a completely different version of what has happened,” he told the Daily Mail.

“Should this dangerous dogma be accepted, it means that when children learn about Greek, Roman, or other ancient civilizations, they get a falsified picture,” he added.

“You have to fight back against this because if it is accepted, then the whole academic enterprise turns into an empty pursuit of ideological objectives,” Furedi noted.
