Top radio talker and Fox News host Mark Levin accused federal judges and law professors attacking Donald Trump of being “saboteurs” who are trying to disenfranchise tens of millions of voters who still support the former president.
During a segment on host Sean Hannity’s program on Wednesday, Levin, himself an attorney and former chief of staff in President Ronald Reagan’s Justice Department, blasted those who say Trump should be ineligible to run for president under the 14th Amendment’s ‘insurrection’ clause.
“There is no evidence that they did and of course they didn’t. What do we mean today by insurrection or sedition? It does not matter. Donald Trump has not been charged for insurrection or sedition. You know why he’s not charged, America? Two days before January 6th when the so-called insurrection took place, he offered 10,000 military personnel to defend the Capitol building and defend the members of Congress on January 6th. He was turned down by the Democrats Speaker and the Democrat mayor,” Levin said.
“Can you imagine bringing the charge against Trump? I go to court and say, ‘let me get this straight: he’s the only one who offered 10,000 men armed in military gear to surround that building to protect them on January 6th. He was turned down by the Democrats. That’s one way to run in insurrection, don’t you think?’ Authorizing the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers to have the insurrection? No evidence of that, no evidence of anything, because it doesn’t make any sense,” Levin continued.
“That’s one of the reasons. Now, there is a way to remove a president, impeached, convicted in a Senate. They tried this. The second impeachment was about January 6th. The impeachments, the impeached and without a hearing, without due process, without him providing any evidence, it was a perfect Stalinist trial. Except it was even faster, Stalin at least giving him 48-72 hours before they popped the head off the guy,” Levin added.
“Here, they did it right away. Then they held a trial in the Senate and did not come close to the supermajority votes they needed to convict Donald Trump. If anything, under the constitutional system, Donald Trump was adjudicated not guilty of an insurrection and sedition by the one body that took it up, the United States Senate under our constitutional system,” the legal expert noted further.
“It is scoundrels, saboteurs, dressed up as tenured law professors, former federal judges, radical left-wing Democrat groups they are bringing lawsuits. You know why? They want to disenfranchise 70-75 million Americans, mostly Republicans,” he added.
“They do not believe in the Constitution, the voting system, destroy the electoral college, we are onto them. The question is if the judiciary has any integrity left. Not only turn this down, but will they hold any lawyer that brings the case into court? Will they sanction him or send them to be disbarred? That’s it, I’m done,” he said.
