Some Democrat governors have vowed to fight the changes that President-elect Donald Trump wants to implement, but Trump-Vance transition spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt has warned them.

Many Democrat states, like California, New York, Illinois, and New Jersey, took massive swings toward the Republican Party in the 2024 election, and it could be a sign of the end of Democrat rule in those states if they do not get on board.

“Well, it’s amazing that these Democrat governors continue to be so out of touch with their own voters,” said Leavitt.

“They should open their eyes and look at how the American people voted in this election. They have given President Trump a resounding mandate to deliver on the promises that he made on the campaign trail. If you look at some of the bluest states in this country, New York and California, for example, those were some of the states with the largest shifts towards President Trump,” the spokeswoman said.

“If you look at liberal California, there was a 12-point shift towards President Trump. You look at the L.A. district attorney, who was fired by a more independent-thinking person. If you look at the liberal mayor of San Francisco, he was fired. The American people are done with these far progressive policies. They want common sense. And that’s what President Trump has campaigned on,” she added.

In the days since the president-elect won his election some Democrat governors have gone into meltdown mode, vowing to resist his plans.

“The safety and wellbeing of New Yorkers are my top priorities,” New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said. “I’m committed to working with anyone on policies that make our state stronger, safer and more livable — but my administration will also be prepared to protect New Yorkers’ fundamental freedoms from any potential threats.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta said on Thursday that they would convene a special session of the state legislature “to safeguard California values and fundamental rights in the face of an incoming Trump administration.” It would focus on “bolstering California legal resources to protect civil rights, reproductive freedom, climate action, and immigrant families,” they said.
