The Milwaukee Police Association decisively announced its endorsement of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump and vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance on Friday, marking another significant victory for the former president’s campaign.
“We like to say the Milwaukee Police Association is the ‘force behind the force,’” MPA President Alex Ayala said in a statement. “We use the words ‘honor’ and ‘service’ when we talk about the brave men and women of our department. Their importance extends far beyond the uniform and badge; it is about their commitment to serving and protecting us all.”
The association highlighted numerous policing challenges in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, such as low bail for dangerous criminals and a staffing crisis. “The Milwaukee Police Association believes the solutions to these challenges are possible,” Ayala wrote. “That’s why we are endorsing the Presidential ticket of Donald Trump and J.D. Vance.”
In 2020, Trump was endorsed by a major New York police union, according to Spectrum News, and the union had no regrets despite his loss. “Addressing these issues isn’t political — it is truly a matter of life and death to Milwaukee,” Ayala said.
Meanwhile, Trump has brought on board Corey Lewandowski, a familiar face from his 2016 campaign, to be part of his senior leadership team for his current presidential bid. Lewandowski, who served as an informal adviser during the 2016 campaign, is expected to take on a more formal role in Trump’s current campaign, according to an anonymous source who spoke to Politico.
Lewandowski is one of several former Trump aides who will be taking on advisory roles.
“As we head into the home stretch of this election, we are continuing to add to our impressive campaign team,” Trump campaign senior aides said in a statement. “Corey Lewandowski, Taylor Budowich, Alex Pfeiffer, Alex Bruesewitz, and Tim Murtaugh are all veterans of prior Trump campaigns and their unmatched experience will help President Trump prosecute the case against Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, the most radical ticket in American history.”
