White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles is not someone who does many interviews but, in a recent sit down with Fox News host Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump, she described how, as a classic conservative, she came to join the MAGA team.
When she spoke with the Fox News host she said it would likely be her only interview and, as Trump mentioned that she had worked for the late President Ronald Reagan, Wiles explained her journey.
“It doesn’t feel any different to me than anything else. I mean, I don’t think I was the first woman to lead a Republican presidential campaign. I don’t think I was, and when the president asked me to be his chief of staff, I didn’t know that would be the case here,” the Chief of Staff said.
“I’m a mother. I’m a grandmother. I come from a place where I really believe in the country. I’ve, like all of us, evolved in my philosophy of government, my politics have evolved over time. I was for most of my career what we think of as a like an establishment Republican, checked the box, didn’t really pay much attention to what the candidate stood for, worked for whoever was sort of next in line,” Wiles said.
“And then Donald Trump came along. MAGA came along. It’s a whole different way of looking at the way our nation needs to move forward and grow. He’s been through so much — the lawfare, having been the leader of the free world, having had an assassination attempt . He’s a different person than he was,” the Chief of Staff said.
“So, I really don’t think that any one person changed him. I think life experience and who he is changed him. I think he’s a better leader now. So, I — I don’t know that I had anything to do with that, but — but I think the country benefits from it,” she said.
