President-elect Donald Trump gave his “complete” and “total” endorsement of Speaker Mike Johnson ahead of the upcoming fight to maintain the House speakership.
“The American people need IMMEDIATE relief from all of the destructive policies of the last Administration. Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard-working, religious man,” Trump wrote Monday on Truth Social. “He will do the right thing, and we will continue to WIN. Mike has my Complete & Total Endorsement. MAGA!!!”
Trump championed the Republican Party as “the Party of COMMON SENSE” and cautioned Republicans to avoid missteps.
“We ran a flawless campaign, having spent FAR LESS, with lots of money left over. They ran a very expensive ‘sinking ship,’ embracing DOJ & FBI WEAPONIZATION against their political opponent, ME. BUT IT DIDN’T WORK, IT WAS A DISASTER!!!” Trump added. “LETS NOT BLOW THIS GREAT OPPORTUNITY WHICH WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN.”
Trump touted his victory in the “magnificent and historic Presidential Election of 2024,” noting wins in seven swing states, 317 electoral votes, and millions in the popular vote margin. He criticized California’s delayed certification of election results.
Despite Trump’s win, Republicans face challenges in the House, where they hold only a five-seat majority. Following last week’s government funding battles, Fox News projected that between four and 10 Republicans could oppose Johnson in the speakership vote scheduled for Jan. 3.
The House recently rejected a Trump-endorsed, narrow 116-page spending bill and later passed a shutdown-averting bill with more Democratic support (196 votes) than Republican (170), highlighting GOP divisions.
Trump also used his Monday post to allege financial mismanagement in Kamala Harris’ failed campaign, claiming millions were spent on celebrity endorsements, including “$11,000,000 to Beyoncé, who never even sang a song, $2,000,000 to Oprah…and even $500,000 to Reverend AL.”
Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, previously denied these claims, stating her daughter was not paid to appear at a Harris rally in Texas. Campaign finance records, however, show Oprah Winfrey’s production company, Harpo Productions, received $1 million from the Harris campaign.
