Survey: Americans' Trust In Biden Craters As Trump Gains Support

The news continues to be devastating for President Joe Biden as he attempts to continue in his job past the next election.

As poll after poll shows the president bleeding young voters and minority voters, it has become apparent that his issues extend beyond those groups.

The most recent Gallup poll showed that many of the things that assisted him with voters in the 2020 election no longer apply.

“Americans are less likely now than they were in 2020 to believe a number of positive personal qualities and characteristics apply to President Joe Biden,” Gallup said on Monday in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

“The biggest decline has come in the percentage believing Biden is able to manage the government effectively, but his scores are down at least six percentage points on each characteristic,” it said.

The polling agency also asked respondents about Biden and Trump’s characteristics: “Can manage the government effectively,” “Is likable,” “Displays good judgment in a crisis,” “Is a strong and decisive leader,” “Cares about the needs of people like you,” and “Is honest and trustworthy.”

Biden fell between 13 and 6 points in each category but was still ahead of Trump in 3 of the 6. Those included “Is likable” (57/37%), “Cares about the needs of people like you” (48/42%), and “Is honest and trustworthy” (46/35%).

But in the important categories regarding leadership Biden was behind Trump. Those were “Can manage the government effectively” (39/49%), “Displays good judgment in a crisis” (40/45%), and “Is a strong and decisive leader” (38/57%).

“These changes are consistent with the 2020 to 2024 movement in the candidates’ overall favorable ratings. Biden’s most recent favorable rating, 41%, is down eight points from the end of the 2020 campaign, while Trump’s 42% is statistically similar to the 45% 2020 reading,” the poll said, speaking of the trends that have seen Biden’s approval rating continue to tank for the entire election season.
