In a previous post, Top 15 Covid-19 Hypocrites, we addressed various mayors, governors and other leaders who do not abide by their own rules when it comes to Covid Lockdowns and now we get to add two more. I’m sure there will be many more after this as well.

San Jose Mayor, Sam Liccardo, thought it was fine for him to attend a Thanksgiving get-together with family members who are not a part of his household after tweeting “Let’s cancel the big gatherings this year and focus on keeping each other safe.”

Daily Caller reports:

Liccardo’s staff confirmed that the mayor attended the Thanksgiving event but refused to specify how many people and different households were present as well as whether attendees wore masks when they were not eating, the publication reported.

“This is a private event – not public,” Liccardo’s Chief of Staff Jim Reed repeatedly told NBC Bay Area. “We are going to redraw the line between what is personal and what is public because that line has become blurred.”

The mayor’s staff initially told NBC Bay Area that Liccardo would be “staying home” on Thanksgiving, then contacted the publication the day after Thanksgiving to say that a spokesperson had “misspoke” and that Liccardo went to his parents’ house for the holiday.

The other addition to the list is Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl. After Kuehl voted to ban outdoor dining at L.A. County’s 31,000 restaurants, she decided to attend one herself in Santa Monica and dine outdoors.

Kuehl described outdoor dining as “a most dangerous situation” yet only hours after she voted for the ban she was at the restaurant eating.

Fox 11 reports:

A spokesperson for Kuehl provided FOX 11 the following brief statement:

“She did dine al fresco at Il Forno on the very last day it was permissible. She loves Il Forno, has been saddened to see it, like so many restaurants, suffer from a decline in revenue. She ate there, taking appropriate precautions, and sadly will not dine there again until our Public Health Orders permit.”

Restaurant owners should join together and disregard these bans set forth by elected officials that do not follow them themselves.
