Rand Paul Staffer Stabbed in Violent DC Attack

A member of Sen. Rand Paul‘s staff was viciously attacked in Washington, D.C. over the weekend, leaving the staffer with life-threatening injuries.

The individual is now alive and undergoing treatment at a local hospital. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Glynn Neal of Southeast DC, was arrested on Saturday, March 25, 2023, and charged with Assault with Intent to Kill (Knife).

According to the police report, at around 5:17 pm on Saturday, March 25, 2023, members of the First District were dispatched to the 1300 block of H Street, Northeast, where they found an adult male victim with multiple stab wounds. The victim was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

In response to the attack, Senator Rand Paul issued a statement expressing his shock and dismay at the incident.

He also thanked the first responders, hospital staff, and police for their quick response and diligent actions. Paul also expressed his relief that the suspect had been apprehended.

“This past weekend a member of my staff was brutally attacked in broad daylight in Washington, D.C. I ask you to join Kelley and me in praying for a speedy and complete recovery,” Paul said in the statement.

“We are relieved to hear the suspect has been arrested. At this time we would ask for privacy so everyone can focus on healing and recovery.”

The attack on Paul comes shortly after congresswoman Angie Craig was attacked outside of her apartment building. Craig, a Democrat from Minnesota, escaped with minor injuries after she threw scolding coffee at the assailant, a police report said.

She was attacked at around 07:10 local time (12:10 GMT) on Thursday, February 9 police say.

Her chief of staff Nick Coe said in a statement that she “defended herself from the attacker and suffered bruising, but is otherwise physically okay.”
