NY Times ‘Stealth-Edits’ Op-Ed Column Calling JD Vance Literal ‘Fascist’ Following Criticism

The New York Times edited a headline that linked Republican vice presidential candidate and Ohio Sen. JD Vance to a neo-Nazi slogan.

On Saturday The Times headlined a story “JD Vance’s Blood-and-Soil Nationalism Finds Its Target,” and was immediately inundated with furious conservatives who scorched the newspaper for its use of the neo-Nazi slogan in relation to the senator.

On Sunday it changed the headline to “Shouldn’t JD Vance Represent All of Ohio?” but did not include an editor’s note about the change.

The story centers on the senator speaking about the immigration crisis nationwide and specifically as it pertains to Springfield, Ohio and its influx of Haitian migrants.

“If Senator JD Vance of Ohio had a moral compass, a shred of decency or a belief in anything other than his own ambition and will-to-power, he would resign his Senate seat effective immediately, leave the presidential race and retire from public life, following a mournful apology for his ethical transgressions,” New York Times opinion columnist Jamelle Bouie said. “As it stands, Vance has done none of the above, which is why he is still, as of today, using his position in the United States Senate and on the Republican Party presidential ticket to spread lies and smears against his own constituents in Springfield — Haitian immigrants who have settled there to make a new life for themselves.”

The author went on to insinuate that bomb threats being sent to hospitals and schools in the town are due to the attention being brought to it by the senator, former President Donald Trump and other Republicans.

“What matters to Vance is who they are, where they come from and what they look like,” the author said insinuating that the senator has racist motives. “They don’t belong to this soil, he might say, and therefore they don’t belong. Right now, the most Vance can do to wage this war is use his words. I shudder to think what might be possible if he had the authority of the state to wield as well.”
