MSNBC Host Freaks Out Over States Loosening COVID Restrictions: My Kids 'More Than Willing To Wear Their Mask'

The ‘progressive’ left is an authoritarian ideology much like Marxism, so it should come as no surprise that Americans who believe in and adhere to the same ideology are also authoritarians.

Knowing that helps explain why they continue to cling to COVID mandates despite the fact that they demonstrably do not work and are never going to work.

Like the ubiquitous never-ending “mask mandate.”

Red states ditched the mandates months ago, adopting the very federalism-like principle of allowing local jurisdictions and individuals decide for themselves if masks still make sense after a two-year failed pandemic healthcare policy run.

Blue states are finally coming around to the realization, too, that masking doesn’t work, so perpetual masking won’t, either — and just in time to help their Democrat Party try and avoid a massive butt-kicking in the 2022 midterms.

But again, because true progressives like, say, most media types, are authoritarians at heart, it comes as no surprise that they are up in arms over announcements by the governors of New Jersey, Delaware, and California of the removal or limiting of mask mandates within their states.

Fox News reports:

MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan tweeted, “The daily average for COVID deaths in this country is still above 2 and a half *thousand.* 2.5k Americans a day. A day. And yet some say it’s time to move on from the pandemic. It’s ‘peaked.’ Back to normal. Off ramps. Etc.”

Fellow host Joy Reid also tweeted, “So, I’m listening to a parent, who is also a physician BTW, say on TV that masking kids in school is more detrimental than the risk of spreading potentially deadly COVID because her son can’t see the reaction when he tells a funny story. So Millennial parenting is … different…”

Ironically, Reid’s Twitter handle is “Joy-Ann (Pro-Democracy) Reid,” which belies her authoritarian tendency to force everyone into masks in perpetuity.

But these two MSNBC’ers weren’t alone; fellow host Stephanie Ruhle had to jump in, too, using one of the most bizarre of reasons why mandatory masking ought to continue.

On Tuesday’s episode of “MSNBC Reports,” Ruhle justified continued masking because some children don’t oppose mask mandates in school.

“Do you think it’s time for school mask mandates to end nationwide? I live with kids who are more than willing to wear their mask, and it’s my parents who complain about my children having to wear masks. So my kids don’t mind it,” Ruhle said.

“Not yet. Here on Feb. 8, not yet,” contributor Dr. Vin Gupta replied.

He noted further, “I do think as we proceed March 15 toward April 1, which I think will be a watershed moment for the country where it will be truly at an endemic phase based on all four castes. Based on where we are currently at right now which doesn’t feel that way.”

But that said, the almighty Gupta went on to say that at some point, mask mandates would have to be lifted so Americans would come to believe in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention again (good luck with that).

“It’s important also to start peeling these back when we can do so safely, so that come wintertime of 2022, when I’m concerned about what that may look like, we will have the credibility to reinstitute some of these controls that we need to,” he said.
