Miami-Dade commissioners have officially approved Hialeah’s decision to rename a historic road after President-elect Donald Trump.
“President Donald J. Trump Avenue is official in Miami-Dade County! Today, we ratified the City of Hialeah’s initiative to honor President Trump’s legacy of championing freedom and opportunity by co-designating Palm Avenue — a vital artery in our community — as ‘President Donald J. Trump Avenue,'” Miami-Dade Commissioner Kevin Cabrera wrote on X. “Miami-Dade County strongly supported President Trump during the election, and this designation serves as a lasting tribute to his leadership and vision for our nation,” he added.
The resolution, approved during a Tuesday meeting, will rename a four-mile stretch of Palm Avenue as “President Donald J. Trump Avenue.”
Last year, the Hialeah city council approved the renaming proposal after Mayor Esteban “Steve” Bovo announced the plan and presented Trump with a commemorative street sign during a rally.
Commissioner Cabrera, a vocal supporter of the change, expressed the community’s strong support for Trump, reports The Gazette.
“Our community deeply understands and appreciates the sacrifice, work, and dedication of President Trump,” Cabrera stated on Tuesday. “By naming Palm Avenue—a vital artery that runs through the heart of Hialeah and serves as a hub for local businesses and cultural identity—we are forever immortalizing President Trump’s legacy. Future generations who traverse this street will be reminded of his fight for the principles of freedom, prosperity, and opportunity.”
Trump’s strong connection to the area was evident in last month’s election, where he secured about 75% of the vote in Hialeah. He also won Miami-Dade County by more than 13%, marking the first Republican victory in the county since 1988.
This road renaming serves as a lasting tribute to Trump’s influence and leadership within the community.
