Former President Donald Trump returned to the Capitol, causing a commotion in the media and among some politicians.
Many were anxious to see what would happen when he came face to face with Senate Minority Leader and Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell who he has famously feuded with since he left the White House.
Those questions were answered on Thursday when the two met, along with many other senators and representatives and everything appeared to be friendly and supportive.
“We had a really positive meeting, he and I got a chance to talk a little bit, we shook hands a few times, he got a lot of standing ovations, it was an entirely positive meeting. Mitt Romney was there, as well, and I can’t think of anything to tell you about it that was negative,” the Senate Minority Leader said.

And other senators and representatives agreed that the Party is unified for 2024.
Trump “immediately went in to address Mitch McConnell and said he’s done his best while he was here. He understands elections. And he understands how important two seats are and we need to be focused on those,” Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin said.
“There was a lot of unity. A lot of people think we’re going in the wrong direction now,” Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul said.
“I haven’t seen that Republican group as strongly united on all of those policy issues in a long, long time,” South Dakota Sen. Mike Rounds said.
Ohio Sen J.D. Vance said that the sentiments of the senators who blamed the former president for the events of January 6, 2021, are in the past.
“No real Republican with any credibility in the party is still blaming him,” the senator, who is said to be on the former president’s shortlist for the job of vice president, said.
“I think it’s a good thing, and the Republican Party is in a good place,” he said.
