Majority of Americans Want FBI Officials Who Pushed 'Trump-Russia Collusion' Hoax Prosecuted

According to a recent poll, almost 60 percent of Americans believe that those individuals within the FBI who propagated false claims regarding “Russiagate” against former President Donald Trump should face prosecution for their actions.

The conspiracy theory emerged during Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016 and initially stemmed from the Hillary Clinton campaign. Previous reporting, confirmed in special counsel John Durham’s recent report, that President Barack Obama’s White House was briefed by CIA Director John Brennan on Clinton’s strategy to divert attention from her own email server scandal, in which she mishandled classified government information by falsely associating Trump with Moscow.

The FBI and DOJ also participated in furthering the Democrats’ agenda, the report noted, adding that there was “no evidence” whatsoever to support the Clinton campaign’s allegations.

Paul Bedard wrote in his column at the Washington Examiner it was a “potential boon” for Trump’s 2024 president bid that “a majority of Americans not only believe he was the target of the so-called ‘Russiagate’ affair but want FBI officials involved prosecuted.”

He cited Rasmussen Reports, which said 63% believe Trump was the target of the Clinton campaign “hit.”

Bedard reported, “Trump has long said that his presidency would have been better had he not been dogged by the charges, fueled by an anti-Trump media. In the report, Durham raised serious questions about FBI operations and coordination with the Clinton team to hurt Trump.”

So now Americans want “revenge,” he noted.

“Rasmussen said that 59% of likely voters want those inside the FBI who promoted the false Trump claims in the scandal ‘criminally prosecuted,’” Bedard reported.

“George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley called the Russian collusion charge against Trump ‘a well-orchestrated hit job by the Clinton campaign and government officials.’ The survey used that language to ask Americans what they thought,” he reported.

Meanwhile, a Republican lawmaker believes Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) should have to pay a huge penalty for lying about having evidence of Trump’s ‘collusion.’

As reported by Fox News this week, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., introduced a resolution that would fine Schiff $16 million for his false claims, which she believes helped fuel subsequent baseless investigations paid for by American taxpayers.

Luna says that the amount represents roughly half of the expenses incurred during the federal investigations into the false allegations. It is important to note that both special counsel reports, conducted by Robert Mueller and John Durham, have debunked the claims, though, for years, Schiff said he had “evidence” backing them up.

“The GOP Conference agrees that Adam Schiff has betrayed the trust of the American people, purposely abused positions of extreme authority, lied continuously, and as such, must be held to account,” Luna said. “Accordingly, the resolution requires Rep. Schiff to pay a $16 million dollar fine, half of the cost American taxpayers were forced to pay for the Russia hoax investigation.”
