While campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris in New Hampshire on Tuesday, President Joe Biden called for the imprisonment of former President Donald Trump. Addressing a group of Harris-Walz supporters at the state’s Democratic campaign office, Biden made the bold statement: “We got to lock him up!”

This remark follows accusations from Trump’s campaign and GOP leaders, who allege that Biden and Harris have used the Department of Justice to target Trump, the 2024 GOP nominee. Since Biden’s presidency began in 2021, Trump has faced numerous federal criminal indictments.

Biden later attempted to soften the statement by adding, “politically lock him up.”

After being convicted by a Manhattan jury of 34 felony offenses related to falsified business documents in June, Trump faces the possibility of jail time. His sentencing, originally scheduled for September, was postponed by Judge Merchan until after the 2024 presidential election.

In addition to the New York case, Trump is also facing multiple charges in other legal matters, including the 2020 Georgia election interference case and the January 6 Capitol riot.

The former president has maintained his innocence, labeling the indictments as politically motivated “witch hunts” orchestrated by a weaponized Department of Justice under Biden’s leadership.

As of now, Trump has not responded to Biden’s remarks from Tuesday.
