Lawmakers In Ohio Fail To Pass 'Fix' That Would Allow Biden on '24 Ballot

It has become more possible that President Joe Biden may not appear on the election ballot in the key state of Ohio in the presidential election.

The timing of the Democrat National Convention comes after the deadline for nominees to be submitted for the Ohio ballot and the legislature of the state, which is led by Republicans, has not been willing to vote on a fix for the situation.

Democrat Minority Leader Allison Russ does believe that the president will appear on the ballot but that the fix will come from the courts, The Star News Network reported.

“While political dysfunction appears to have closed the door on a legislative solution ensuring President Biden would be on the November ballot, multiple pathways that have always been better options remain open for meeting the Aug. 7 deadline. Every elected and party official involved in this is well aware that the deadline is fast approaching. The secretary of state’s latest letter offers no new or additional information. Come November, the voters will get what they are constitutionally guaranteed – President Joe Biden on the ballot and a means to exercise their freedom to vote,” she said.

This month Secretary of State Frank LaRose explained in a letter to Ohio Democratic Chairwoman Liz Walters.

“Today, the Speaker of the Ohio House told members of the media there would not be a legislative solution,” adding he was “duty bound to instruct boards of elections to begin preparing ballots that do not include the Democratic Party’s nominees for president and vice president of the United States,” he said.

“I’ve said from here to Colorado that it’s in the best interest of voters to have a choice in the race for president. I’m also duty-bound to follow the law as Ohio’s chief elections officer. As it stands today, the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee will not be on the Ohio ballot. That is not my choice. It’s due to a conflict in the law created by the party, and the party has so far offered no legally acceptable remedy. The Ohio House speaker said today there won’t be a legislative solution, so I’ve sent a letter to @OHDems chair seeking (again) a solution that upholds the law and respects the voters. I trust they’ll act quickly,” he said on X, formerly Twitter.
