Kayleigh McEnany Dismisses Potential Trump VP Pick: 'A Fool's Errand'

Fox News co-host Kayleigh McEnany dismissed a potential running mate for her one-time boss, former President Donald Trump, as a “fool’s errand” choice that would not enhance is voter base.

During a segment on the network, co-host Dana Perino, herself a former White House press secretary, asked if Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, a businessman, would make a good choice for Trump after Ramaswamy dropped out and endorsed the GOP leader following Monday’s caucuses.

“I think slim to none,” McEnany, a co-host of “Outnumbered,” said. “First, Jason Miller was asked about this — he advises President Trump — and he said no to Vivek. However, that was before Vivek dropped out.”

McEnany informed Perino that Republican voters do not seek a vice presidential candidate who is a “carbon copy of the nominee.” She added that including Ramaswamy on the ticket would be politically pointless since he does not really broaden Trump’s base of support.

“Vivek and Trump, they pick up the same base of voters. It’s the MAGA voters, the conservative voters,” McEnany said. “You want someone who’s going to add to your ticket. I think we’re at a moment in time similar to 1980 where Reagan chose George H.W. Bush to unify the Republican Party.”

“Trump needs every single Republican vote, so choosing someone who is just like him, I think, is a fool’s errand,” McEnany said.

Ramaswamy never went after Trump during the campaign, unlike the other GOP candidates.

Earlier this week, McEnany revealed the mainstream media’s plan to try and keep Trump from retaking the White House in November.

The former White House press secretary appeared on “Hannity” to discuss Trump’s historic caucus victories in Iowa on Monday, attacking left-wing networks for cutting off his victory speech.

“Donald Trump last night, he did not just make history; all he needed to do was a 12.8 percent margin, and he crushed history. He beat his nearest competitor by 30 points, winning 98 out of 99 counties, losing by one vote in one county, just one singular vote. It was, by all accounts, historic,” she told Sean Hannity.

“Now the media, for their part, they don’t learn their lesson. It’s like 2016 on repeat, where the number one issue is immigration. We saw that last night where the media just doesn’t deride Trump,” McEnany said.

“They deride his supporters. You remember the Neanderthal thinking line from Biden recently. Back in 2016, you had Hillary Clinton’s basket of deplorables. You had Don Lemon on his show laughing at the rubes who can’t find countries on a map,” she continued.

“They haven’t learned their lesson. They continue to demean his supporters. But … I am worried that the media has a plan, and we saw it play out last night, to just censor this man. Jake Tapper, what a shameful moment from a so-called journalist, as you exposed. He is not,” she added.

McEnany continued: “To cut off Donald Trump and say, you could hear him under my voice saying anti-immigrant things. He was not. Let the people hear the man speak.”
