Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni met with President Donald Trump, where she said she wants to revitalize Western Civilization and “Make The West Great Again.”

She said that the president had accepted her invitation to visit Rome this year to speak with leaders of Italy and other European nations to talk about trade.

“At the end of the day, look, somebody calls me, I was saying it before, a Western nationalism. I don’t know if it is the right word, but I know that when I speak about the West, mainly I don’t speak about geographical space. I speak about the civilization,” the Italian prime minister said. “And I want to make that civilization stronger.”

“So I think even if we have some problems, OK, between the two shores of the Atlantic, it is the time that we try to sit down and, and find solutions, so I want to thank President Trump for, having accepted an invitation to pay an official visit to Rome in the in the near future and consider the possibility on that occasion to meet also with Europe,” the prime minister said.

“The goal for me is to make the West great again and and I think we can do it together, and we will keep on working on that,” she said.

The White House commented after the meeting in which it confirmed much of what the prime minister said.

“President Donald J. Trump and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held their first official meeting yesterday in Washington, D.C., where they confirmed their resolve to promote a mutually beneficial relationship and further strengthen the U.S. – Italy strategic alliance across security, economic, and technological issues,” the White House said.

“President Trump accepted Prime Minister Meloni’s invitation to pay an official visit to Italy in the very near future. There is also consideration to hold, on such occasion, a meeting between U.S. and Europe,” it said.
