Former Trump Lawyer Michael Cohen On Unhinged Rant: If Trump Wins, ‘I’m Outta Here’

The former attorney for former President Donald Trump, who became a star witness against him in the hush money trial involving adult movie actress Stormy Daniels, is threatening to leave the United States and change his name.

Michael Cohen said during an interview on Tuesday with MSNBC that he believes if the former president is elected again that he will use the power of the federal government to come after him thus necessitating his need to flee if that scenario transpires.

“Well, I’m out of here. I’m already working on a foreign passport with a completely different name,” he said to host Nicolle Wallace. “I don’t know how it is going to work as far as dealing with my wife and my children. I certainly don’t want them moving to where I’m looking to go. But I — and I don’t think — yourself, the president of MSNBC, General Milley, Liz Cheney, how many people has he turned around and said that these are people that I intend to go after if I have the ability to. And the worst is the Supreme Court’s recent decision that gave him immunity, presidential immunity. Now he thinks it is — not only can I do whatever I want. But I can’t even be prosecuted, to get out of jail free card. Solely for the president.”

“So you’re out of here. Would you leave the country?” the host asked.

“I have no choice,” he said.

“Under our constitutional structure of separated powers, the nature of Presidential power entitles a former President to absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within his conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority,” the court held in a 6-3 ruling. “And he is entitled to at least presumptive immunity from prosecution for all his official acts. There is no immunity for unofficial acts.”

In the majority opinion, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote that the ultimate analysis of which allegations in Trump’s indictment are considered official acts subject to immunity “is best left to the lower courts.”

“Certain allegations—such as those involving Trump’s discussions with the Acting Attorney General—are readily categorized in light of the nature of the President’s official relationship to the office held by that individual,” Roberts wrote. “Other allegations—such as those involving Trump’s interactions with the Vice President, state officials, and certain private parties, and his comments to the general public present more difficult questions. ”

Roberts noted further  that Trump is “absolutely immune from prosecution for the alleged conduct involving his discussions with Justice Department officials.”
