Former Porn Star Says Slams Industry, Says It Should Be Illegal

A former porn star is slamming the industry in a new interview and says unequivocally that it should be outlawed altogether.

Lana Rhoades, whose real name is Amara Maple, told a podcast that X-rated films should be banned after making an eye-popping 250 adult films throughout an eight-month stint in the industry, which lasted between 2016 and 2017.

Maple, 26, made most of her films when she was 19 years old. She told “The Skinny Confidential Him & Her” podcast that she remains emotionally scarred from the industry, noting: “I just don’t think that it’s good for anyone. They should make it illegal.”

Maple, who recently said she had a baby with an undisclosed NBA player, said she was extremely naive when she first got into the porn industry.

“For some reason I never comprehended that to do porn you actually have to have sex with people,” she said. The Post added that Maple told the podcast she had only been intimate with one person before she jumped into porn.

Maple, who is a native of Illinois, said that she was lured to the porn industry after she became enthralled with the glamorous lives of Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends on the TV series, “The Girls Next Door.”

“I watched the show and I was like… their lives look so glamorous compared to mine,” she told the podcast. She went on to say that she remembers thinking that she was “here trying to stop my sister from committing suicide every day and I could be jumping out of a trampoline into a pool in this big mansion.”

Before she entered the porn industry, Maple worked as a waitress and then as a stripper. She moved to Los Angeles to begin her professional porn career, The Post reported. She was immediately successful, becoming the most-searched star on Pornhub, garnering a massive 345 million views.

However, Maple — raised in a religious home — grew to hate the feeling of “performing” in porn flicks. “It’s like circus acts. As a performer, when I was doing it, it was like ‘What face can I make?’, ‘What sound can I make?’, ‘ What can I do in this movie to make it the best one?’”

She went on to say that the porn industry is “infested with drugs and alcohol abuse.”

Rhodes now works as a model and fashion designer. She also said she has always been “pretty much asexual” and the porn experience did not influence or fuel her sex drive.

“I don’t like having sex… I never hook up with people, I don’t find people attractive and I’ve always been like that,” she said. “It’s not like there was a change after doing porn.”
