FBI Hid Identities Of Undercover Assets Who Were At or Inside Capitol on J6: Whistleblower

Several FBI whistleblowers made some stunning claims regarding the alleged politicization of the bureau over the past several years, including during and after the riot at the U.S. Capitol Building on Jan. 6, 2021.

Whistleblower testimony obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation indicates that the FBI’s Washington Field Office (WFO) has acknowledged the possibility of “undercover officers” and “confidential human sources” being present within the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

During a February 10th interview with the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, FBI whistleblower George Hill stated that the FBI’s Washington Field Office requested that the Boston Field Office investigate 140 individuals who traveled from Massachusetts to D.C. on January 6, 2021. However, when the Boston office requested to see video evidence that these individuals had entered the Capitol, their request was denied on the grounds of protecting the identities of potential undercover agents, according to Hill.

Hill further revealed that the Boston office initially opened investigations on two individuals who were shown by “definitive evidence” to have been in restricted areas of the Capitol, as part of their probe into the January 6th events. However, since these two individuals had organized the buses from Massachusetts to D.C., the Washington Field Office wanted the Boston office to open cases on all individuals who had traveled on those buses, the Daily Caller noted.

Boston’s Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) refused to open cases on everyone who went to the Capitol because they were “going to a political rally, which is First Amendment protected activity,” according to Hill.

“[People] think of the unlawful events that took place later on in the day on January 6th, but up until that time, it was a rally,” Hill said. “People were, you know, either driving to it, flying to it.”

According to Hill, when another SSA requested to see the footage of the two individuals inside the Capitol, the Washington Field Office declined to provide it unless they could pinpoint “the exact time and place those individuals were inside the Capitol.”

“Why can’t you [give us access] to the 11,000 hours of video that’s available?” the SSA asked.

Hill, who was present during the conversation, reported that the Washington Field Office responded by stating that there “may be” undercover officers or confidential human sources in the videos, whose identities they needed to protect.

The possibility of FBI agents being among the crowd during the Jan. 6 attack has been widely discussed. FBI Director Christopher Wray declined to answer whether the bureau had confidential human sources among the protestors when asked by Rep. Clay Higgins (R-La.) in November. Similarly, Executive Assistant Director of the FBI National Security Branch Jill Sanborn evaded the question when posed by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) during a Senate hearing on Jan. 11, 2023.

“Our whistleblowers are brave individuals who risk their reputations and livelihoods to expose wrongdoing,” House Judiciary Chair Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “There are already immense obstacles in place deterring whistleblowers from coming forward and we hope Democrat leaks and partisan criticisms don’t chill other whistleblowers from coming forward.”
