On Friday morning, Elon Musk, also known as the “Chief Twit,” voiced his support for sending doctors and parents who approve or conduct sex-change surgeries and other life-altering procedures on minors who believe they are transgender to a life sentence in prison. Some are questioning whether Musk went too far or not far enough with his statement.
Musk’s comment came after the popular media personality “The Redheaded Libertarian” mocked an MSNBC article that claimed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) was “destroying an entire state.”
The Daily Wire adds:
As alluded to by The Redheaded Libertarian, the Left seems to take most issue with the state’s Board of Medicine and Board of Osteopathic Medicine rule which effectively equates to “you can’t sex change for your child in Florida.” That board, with support from DeSantis, recently crafted a new rule that prohibits minors in Florida from receiving puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and gender-related surgeries.
“Any parent or doctor who sterilizes a child before they are a consenting adult should go to prison for life,” Musk noted on his Twitter platform in response.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said in response to others who reacted negatively to Musk: “Why is this a controversial statement?”
Townhall columnist and author Kurt Schlichter offered, “This is the compromise position.”
Conservative activist and former GOP congressional candidate Robby Starbuck noted, “It’s so bizarre that this is a courageous statement today. There was a time where this would have sounded silly because everyone would have agreed with it and wondered why he felt the need to say it. That time feels like a different universe now.”
President Joe Biden has criticized Governor DeSantis for his position against sex-reassignment surgeries and gender-related treatments for individuals under 18 years old. The president has expressed that it is “close to sinful” for states to prevent minors from accessing medical procedures that could have long-lasting, negative effects on them.
Biden made the comments while discussing the issue of gender-affirming care on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” with Democrat Kal Penn. He criticized Republican-led states, specifically mentioning Florida, for their efforts to prevent minors from accessing so-called “gender-affirming care.”
“It is not ‘sinful’ to prohibit the mutilation of minors,” DeSantis said in response. “It is not acceptable for the federal government to mandate that procedures like sex change operations be allowed for kids.”
