Driver Admits to Running Over, Killing Teen Because He Was 'Republican Extremist': Report

A driver in North Dakota is in custody after allegedly admitting that he ran over and killed an 18-year-old male for what appears to be political reasons.

Reports Tuesday noted that Cayler Ellingson was at a street dance in McHenry when he called his mom to come get him because he said he was being chased by 41-year-ld Shannon Brandt. However, by the time she got there, Cayler was dead.

Chillingly, Brandt allegedly admitted that he ran over Cayler because the teen was a “Republican extremist.”

InForum noted:

According to court papers, it was not an accident but apparently a politically motivated attack.

Brandt was officially charged Monday with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a deadly accident.

Court papers show Brandt called 911 around 2:30 a.m. Sunday and told the 911 dispatcher that he just hit Ellingson, claiming the teen was part of a Republican extremist group and was calling people to come get Brandt after a political argument.

Cayler’s mother said that when her son called, he asked if she knew Brandt, which she does. She added that she did not believe her son knew his alleged assailant.

“We are still trying to determine what, exactly, transpired at the time of crash and prior to that as well,” North Dakota Highway Patrol Capt. Bryan Niewind told local media.

“We do not know of any witnesses. We are still making attempts to interview potential witnesses from the street dance, people that were present prior to the crash happening,” Niewind said.

He added that Brandt was drunk when he allegedly ran over Cayler in an alley.

A Gofundme has been set up to help pay for Ellingson’s funeral expenses.

The seemingly politically motivated attack comes on the heels of a highly divisive speech by President Joe Biden in which he essentially declared have the country — “MAGA Republicans” who supported former President Donald Trump — threats to “democracy.”

Red State’s Nick Arama adds:

It’s early and we don’t know all the facts yet. But what we know so far has to be concerning, when you have someone killed like this, particularly when it comes in the wake of Joe Biden demonizing millions of Republican Americans as extremists. We said what a danger it was, from the moment Biden gave his nationwide address, that he was inciting people. It gives people who are on the edge a push to act on their baser instincts.

Liberal media including MSNBC added to that by saying that all Republicans were a “threat to democracy,” they were “evil,” and “we are at war.” I don’t know if that influenced Brandt here, although the use of “Republican extremist group” certainly sounds like it’s parroting Joe Biden. But I do know that Biden’s words have been inciting all kinds of attacks on Republicans on social media, and it’s out of control.

Democrats appear to be gaslighting the country into conflict while trying to justify it by taking a ‘high moral ground’ that they are ‘saving democracy.’ They are, in fact, destroying it.
