Dr. Jordan Peterson Suspended From Twitter, Will Not Delete Tweet

Dr. Jordan Peterson was suspended on Twitter, meaning he can not tweet from his account until a particular tweet is deleted. Peterson, however, has said that he will do no such thing.

The tweet in question read: “Remember when pride was a sin? And Ellen Page just had her breast removed by a criminal physician.”

Peterson is referring to actor and biological female Elliott Page, nee Ellen. In 2021, Page had his female chest organs removed.

“I penned an irritated tweet in response to one of the latest happenings on the increasingly heated culture war front,” Peterson told Canadian outlet the National Post on the day following his suspension.

Peterson said that he would “rather die” than delete the tweet, and said “There are no rules on Twitter except don’t do what we don’t like today. They are always applied post hoc by algorithms and idiots bent on maintaining their woke superiority.”

Page said at the time:  “Getting out of the shower and the towel’s around your waist and you’re looking at yourself in the mirror and you’re just like, ‘There I am.’ And I’m not having the moment where I’m panicked… It’s being able to touch my chest and feel comfortable in my body for the — probably the first time. Tears of joy (sic).”

In a message displayed to Peterson, Twitter “determined that this account violated the Twitter Rules. Specifically, for … Violating our rules against hateful conduct.”

The notice said that Peterson “may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.”

As a result, Twitter saw it fit to “temporarily limit some of your account features,” including basically everything that allows people to communicate on Twitter.

“While in this state, you can still browse Twitter, but you’re limited to only sending Direct Messages to your followers — no Tweets, Retweets, Fleets, follows, or likes,” the message states.

“Your account will be restored to full functionality in: 12 hours and 0 minutes. You can start your countdown and continue to Twitter once you: • Delete the content that violates our Rules • 1 Tweet,” meaning Peterson will be forced to censor himself in order to use the platform.

A post from Dr. Peterson’s daughter, Mikhaila, reads: ” [Jordan Peterson] got a twitter strike. No more twitter until he deletes the tweet. Definitely not a free speech platform at the moment,” while tagging free speech enthusiast and potential future Twitter owner Elon Musk.

“Twitters a rat-hole, in the final analysis, I have probably contributed to that, while trying to use, understand and master that horrible, toxic platform,” he said. “If I can’t be let back on because I won’t apologize, I could care less,” Peterson said on Thursday.
