Donald Trump has opened one of his luxury resorts in Florida to accommodate linemen working to restore power in the region following the devastation caused by Hurricane Milton this week. This effort comes on the heels of Hurricane Helene, which hit the southeastern U.S. just days earlier.
The former president is hosting these electricians at the Trump National Doral Miami resort. Eric Trump, his son, shared the news in a social media post on Wednesday: “Honored to have 275 incredible linemen from FPL at National Doral Miami as they get ready to respond to the aftermath of Hurricane Milton!”
He continued, “You are amazing, and the Trump Family, and the entire state of Florida, appreciates you! Enjoy the rooms – they are the best in Florida! Be safe!” Hurricane Milton made landfall on Wednesday evening, leaving at least four people dead and over 3 million homes and businesses without power. In response, 50 of Florida’s 67 counties were placed under evacuation orders.
The linemen staying at Trump’s resort are joining thousands of others from across the country who are mobilizing to restore power in Florida. Meanwhile, Trump’s 2024 opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, has criticized Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for not responding to her calls during the disaster, accusing him of playing “political games.”
President Joe Biden addressed this on Tuesday, stating, “The Governor of Florida has been cooperative. He’s said he’s gotten all that he needs. I talked to him again yesterday. I said, ‘I know you’re doing a great job.'”
