DeSantis Offers Simple Solution For Ending Border Crisis After Sending Migrants to Martha's Vineyard

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has figured out a way for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to solve the ongoing migrant and drug-smuggling crises along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The answer is simple: Enforce immigration laws.

“We take what is happening at the southern border very seriously, unlike some, and unlike the President of the United States, who has refused to lift a finger to secure that border,” the GOP governor said Friday at an event for Florida truckers.

“You’ve had millions and millions of people pouring across illegally; record amount of fentanyl coming into our country; it is absolutely killing Americans in record numbers; of course, you have criminal aliens,” DeSantis added.

The governor’s comments came after Democrats expressed outrage after he sent a planeload of illegal migrants to the wealthy liberal enclave of Martha’s Vineyard earlier in the week, part of Republican governors’ ongoing efforts to make them feel some of the pain border states are experiencing as they continue to deal with record numbers of illegal crossers 18 months after Biden first took office and reversed his predecessor’s border enforcement policies.

“Just the sheer number of people, it’s not the way you run a country. If you have folks that are inclined to think Florida’s a good place, our message to them is that we are not a sanctuary state,” DeSantis continued. “I would just note: Biden would fly people in the middle of the night, dump them all across this country, there was no warning on any of this. They’re doing it and they’re farming people out all around.”

DeSantis went on to address Democrats running blue cities like Washington, D.C., New York City, and Chicago, where he and two other GOP governors, Doug Ducey of Arizona and Greg Abbott of Texas, have been sending illegal migrants since the spring.

“And all of those people in D.C. and New York were beating their chests when Trump was president, saying they were so proud to be sanctuary jurisdictions, saying how bad it was to have a secure border,” he said. “The minute even a small fraction of what those border towns deal with every day is brought to their front door, they all of a sudden go berserk and they’re so upset that this is happening. It just shows you their virtue-signaling is a fraud.”

He continued: “They are supporting policies that are frankly, just indefensible. It is not defensible for a superpower to not have any control over the territory of its country or the borders of its country.”

Then he solved Biden’s problem: “What would be the best is for Biden to do his damn job and secure the border.”
