MSNBC was stunned when one of its reporters spoke to a group of black supporters of former President Donald Trump who shredded Democrat presidential nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris.
“Do you think it matters that she’s a woman and people aren’t comfortable have a woman in a top leadership role?” MSNBC reporter Alex Wagner said to the panel of voters.
“No, I don’t think that because most men, they love their mothers, they love their wives, so as a woman, most men, they respect the woman, but she just doesn’t have the qualification or the education to really run America,” Justice Felix, a voter, said.
Another voter, Dr. Alfie Goodwin said that her issues with Vice President Harris stem from her time as a prosecutor, before she became a senator and then vice president.
“For me, the very first time I ever heard the name Kamala Harris, it was in association to locking up parents for truancy. That was the first time I ever heard of her name, and I really didn’t understand how this person claims to be a Black woman, but yet she’s locking up Black women and Black men and separating families,” she said.
Wagner then mentioned a comment that former President Donald Trump made about the vice president’s race when he said “I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know, is she Indian, or is she Black?”
Some of the black Trump supporters agreed with him.
“Absolutely. When she was sworn into the Senate, it was as the first Indian American,” Dr. Goodwin said “Which is fine! We don’t care.”
“We all know she’s not Black, let’s understand that,” another voter, named Valerie Martin said. “We are all clear on that.”
The reporter mentioned that Harris is still anticipated to carry the majority of the black vote, but a simple majority would be disastrous for the vice president who likely needs around 85 percent of that demographic to be competitive.
