Biden's 'Green' Agenda Actually Hurting Ordinary Workers, Helping Wealthy Dem Donors

The Biden administration’s relentless effort to force Americans into accepting its “green” agenda is set to enrich wealthy Democratic megadonors as much as it will hurt ordinary wage earners.

On Wednesday, Biden unveiled his proposal to mandate that two-thirds of all U.S. car sales by 2032 be electric vehicles and impose the strictest-ever emissions regulations on gas-powered cars. However, similar to other components of the Biden administration’s green initiative, these proposals are expected to increase expenses for average Americans while boosting profits for wealthy Democratic donors.

Think Robin Hood in reverse, Just the News noted in an analysis.

According to a recent CNBC survey, 58% of Americans are currently living paycheck to paycheck, while 70% feel the financial strain of inflation, increasing interest rates, and other factors. Meanwhile, as of February, the average cost of an electric vehicle was around $58,385, according to CarEdge.

As it is, cars are already more expensive than ever before. In fact, average monthly payments for new vehicles reached an all-time high of $730 during the first quarter of 2023, indicating a more than 11% increase compared to the previous year. As the push for EVs continues to mount, the surge in demand will likely drive prices even higher, which is expected to prompt responses from Republican lawmakers in support of consumers, the news outlet’s analysis continued.

“Electrification” is the “road to higher prices” for everybody, noted Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming), the ranking member on the Senate Energy Committee, in response to the 1,475 pages of new rules unveiled Wednesday by the EPA.

Sen. Shelly Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) spoke out as well, pointing out that the average cost of an EV was “more than the household income of 46 percent of American families.”

Citing “massive price increases,” Power the Future spokesman Larry Behrens told the news outlet, “Families are hurting as they struggle to make ends meet” at the same time Biden “takes fossil-fueled transportation to yet another vacation.”

“We’ve witnessed the highest gas prices ever, the worst inflation since Jimmy Carter, and it’s all due to Joe Biden’s war on American energy,” he added.

It’s more than just the prices of vehicles that are exploding.

As a result of Biden’s efforts to transition away from carbon-based energy, Americans have witnessed a significant spike in their utility bills. In March, GOBankingRates conducted a survey that revealed 75% of Americans experienced a minimum of a 25% increase in their utility bills within the past year alone. Of those surveyed, 22% reported a 50% increase, while 10% indicated that their utility bills had more than doubled compared to the previous year, Just the News reported.

EverSource has reported that the price of kilowatts per hour in Connecticut has surged from 12 cents to 23 cents within the past six months, nearly doubling electricity costs in the state.

Behrens further noted that “continu[ing] down this road” the Biden regime has embarked upon will result in “less energy that is more expensive and an America that is less secure and weaker in the world.”

During an interview on the John Solomon Reports podcast, energy expert Mark Mills from the Manhattan Institute shared concerns about rising prices, echoing the aforementioned worries. Mills expressed regret that Biden has kept his promise to transform the energy industry in America, stating that it puts “the average person” at an economic disadvantage.

“The problem is the average person will pay more,” Mills said. “Not just for electric cars if that’s what they’re required to buy; they’ll pay more for used cars … they’ll pay more for gasoline to drive it because of the hostility towards drilling, they’ll pay more for electricity … all the trajectories push this towards higher costs for everybody,” which “the wealthy can afford” but “the average person cannot.”

And, while middle-class consumers continue to struggle with the mounting expenses, the Democrats’ wealthy green energy investors, who are closely allied with the party, are poised to gain significant economic benefits thanks to Biden’s market interventions made on their behalf.

“To say [the federal government] is putting its thumb on the scales is an understatement,” said Mills. “It’s putting the whole weight of the body of government on the scale.”
