Hur described Biden as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” a characterization that Biden echoed during his speech, stating, “I’m well-meaning, and I’m an elderly man, and I know what the hell I’m doing.” However, Biden pushed back against Hur’s insinuations regarding his memory, asserting, “My memory is fine.”

Responding to queries about Hur’s mention of his late son Beau, Biden expressed frustration, declaring, “How dare he raise that?” He emphasized his ongoing grief, stating, “Let me tell you something…I swear, since the day he died, every single day…I wear the rosary he got from Our Lady—” before momentarily faltering, indicating potential memory lapses. “I don’t need anyone—I don’t need anyone to remind me when he passed away or passed away,” Biden continued.
