In discussing the situation, Biden stated, “Yesterday’s tragic and alarming event in north Gaza, trying to get humanitarian in there and the loss of life is heartbreaking,” linking the situation in Gaza with humanitarian aid efforts. He had initially referenced legislation in support of Ukraine.

This mix-up adds to a series of recent gaffes by Biden, including confusing NATO with Ukraine and mixing up the presidents of Mexico and Egypt. Concerns about the President’s mental fitness have been raised, particularly after a report by Special Counsel Robert Hur highlighted Biden’s “poor memory.” Despite these concerns, the report concluded that Biden would not face charges related to his handling of classified documents.
