Nancy Pelosi BOOED At NYC Concert Event

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was booed by attendees of a New Yor City music festival on Saturday night after she made a surprise appearance at the event.

Pelosi appeared at the NYC’s Global Citizen music festival, where video shows she was given a less-than-warm greeting by those in attendance. Video posted across social media shows the Speaker being booed heavily after being introduced to the state by actress Priyanka Chopra, wife of Nick Jonas. Pelosi came out to speak about carbon pollution and climate change.

“As speaker of the house, I am here to thank you for your dazzling advocacy, entrepreneurial thinking, and determination as global citizens,” she told the crowd, according to the New York Post.

“It’s thanks to your help that the United States recently enacted historic climate legislation, which will be a game changer,” she said over the heavy booing from the audience. “It will slash carbon pollution by 40% by 2030, it will give a historic, a historic $370 billion to fight the climate crisis.”

She also said that Democrats were fighting for “better water and air for our children” and “better-paying jobs and lower energy bills for their parents.”

Others that appeared at the event include Mariah Carey, Metallica, The Jonas Brothers, and Usher, according to Fox News.

Many weren’t pleased with Pelosi’s appearance at the event at all. One commentor on the Post’s site said, “Why does society now have to put politics in every concert, play, sports etc. I use to watch many of those but refrain since everything is always political.”

Another said “Way past time for these elderly politicians to retire. They more than had their turn to mess things up, give younger folks an opportunity to mess up the Country for a while.”
