White House REFUSES to Say They Will Cooperate With Subpoenas in Biden Classified Docs Investigation

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to comment on whether the Biden administration would support cooperation with a congressional subpoena for former White House Counsel Dana Remus to testify in the investigation into President Biden’s alleged mishandling of classified documents, Fox News Digital reported on Tuesday.

The House Oversight Committee Chairman, James Comer, and House Judiciary Committee Chairman, Jim Jordan, subpoenaed Remus and sought transcribed interviews from other officials regarding Biden’s purported improper retention of classified records.

Comer, who had initially requested a transcribed interview with Remus in May, described her as a “central figure” in coordinating the packing and moving of boxes later found to contain classified materials. The committees also requested interviews with Annie Tomasini, a senior Biden aide who inventoried Biden’s documents at the Penn Biden Center, and Anthony Bernal, a senior advisor in First Lady Jill Biden’s office, among others.

House Republicans identified Remus, Bernal, Tomasini, and others as individuals involved in retrieving boxes of documents from the Penn Biden Center ahead of November 2022, when classified documents were reportedly discovered. Biden’s attorneys assert that the documents were first found on Nov. 2, 2022, but Comer pointed to earlier contact between Remus and a top aide to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in May 2022.

The investigation centers on contradictory details about the discovery of documents at the Penn Biden Center, and Comer has indicated that Remus could be a witness with unique knowledge. The Biden administration, through Jean-Pierre, refrained from commenting on whether they would support cooperation with the subpoena, emphasizing consistency with their previous approach.

The subpoena and investigation add to the scrutiny surrounding the handling of classified documents and raise questions about the timeline and communication related to the discovery at the Penn Biden Center.
