Trump, Prominent GOP Members Slam Hunter Biden Indictment as Smokescreen: “Only Crime That Doesn't Implicate Crooked Joe”

Former President Donald Trump slammed the Justice Department’s indictment of Hunter Biden on federal firearms charges. Trump stated in a Truth Social post that the gun charge is “the only crime that Hunter Biden committed that does not implicate Crooked Joe Biden.”

Hunter Biden is accused of lying about his drug use when purchasing a weapon in 2018, during a period when he had acknowledged struggling with a crack cocaine addiction. These charges follow the collapse of a plea deal and could lead to a high-profile trial ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

Trump, reacting on social media, reiterated his claims that the Justice Department is working against him in the 2024 election. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, alleging that he profited from his son’s foreign business deals during his tenure as vice president.

Trump also criticized the Justice Department and Democrats for what he referred to as “horrible, very unfair, and mostly illegal Witch Hunts,” alluding to his own federal indictments related to the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack and handling of classified documents post-presidency.

He concluded by suggesting that the country may never be the same again due to these developments.

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy dismissed the indictment as a distraction, claiming that the real issue is the Biden family’s alleged use of foreign policy for personal financial gain.

North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, another GOP presidential candidate, expressed concern about influence peddling and the potential compromise of U.S. foreign policy due to illegal payments and shell companies.
