Secret Service Advises Trump Campaign to End Large Outdoor Rallies Following Assassination Attempt: Report

After the attempted assassination of Donald Trump at an outdoor rally in Pennsylvania, Secret Service officials have reportedly advised Trump’s campaign to stop holding large outdoor events with big crowds.

According to three individuals familiar with the matter who spoke to the Washington Post, Secret Service agents have expressed their concerns to Trump campaign advisors about continuing large outdoor rallies.

Trump’s campaign is now reportedly considering venues like large arenas for future events and currently has no large outdoor events scheduled. Campaign advisors noted that indoor rallies are more costly. One campaign official mentioned that despite the higher expense, indoor venues offer more safety because it’s easier to manage who enters and exits.

“Obviously with an indoor venue, you have a capacity,” she said. “It doesn’t pack the same punch. There’s something about being at one of those outdoor rallies.”

On July 13, during a rally in Butler, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire from a nearby roof, hitting Trump in the ear, killing former fire chief Corey Comperatore, and injuring two others. After facing intense scrutiny from lawmakers on Monday and mounting calls to resign, Kimberly Cheatle stepped down from her position as the head of the United States Secret Service.
