NY AG Letitia James Taunts Trump Over $350M Civil Fraud Judgment, Legal Battle Escalates

New York Attorney General Letitia James appears to be reveling in her legal victory against former President Donald Trump, taunting him with social media posts about the judgment he faces in a civil fraud case.

Trump’s legal team recently appealed a ruling that found him liable for over $350 million in damages, with daily interest adding up to nearly $112,000.

In a celebratory tweet, James announced the judgment, stating, “In a massive victory, we won our case against Donald Trump for engaging in years of incredible financial fraud to enrich himself. Trump, Donald Trump, Jr., Eric Trump, and his former executives must pay over $450 million in disgorgement and interest.” She followed up with subsequent tweets detailing the increasing amount Trump may owe in interest.

James’ case targeted not only Trump but also his family and the Trump Organization. The ruling found them liable for various financial offenses, including fraud, falsifying records, and insurance fraud. Trump’s lawyers have filed appeals, challenging the verdict and the steep penalties.

James has indicated her readiness to seize Trump’s assets if he fails to pay. However, Trump’s legal team remains confident, expressing hope that the appellate court will overturn the judgment and restore trust in the legal system, Fox News reports.

Trump has denounced the ruling as “election interference” and says he is being punished for his success in business.
