Zelensky Begs Biden for Credit to Be Paid Back ‘After the War’

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed for further financial assistance in an interview with MSNBC’s Meet the Press. Acknowledging the aid provided by the United States during the conflict with Russia, which has totaled over $100 billion, he expressed a need for continued support.

Zelensky made a direct plea for more financial backing or credit, assuring repayment post-war, in light of President Joe Biden’s request for an additional $61.4 billion for Ukraine within a $100 billion package, which also includes allocations for Israel and border initiatives.

During the interview, Zelensky addressed US lawmakers who exhibit reluctance toward providing additional aid to Ukraine, especially among some Republicans. He emphasized Ukraine’s role in defending not just itself but the broader European continent. He encouraged skeptics to visit Ukraine and commended President Biden for supporting the country.

The Ukrainian President cautioned about the implications of potential Russian aggression beyond Ukraine, warning that an attack by Russia might extend to NATO countries, stressing the importance of maintaining a strong position and safeguarding democracy.

Zelensky’s message to those questioning further financial support for Ukraine was a request for either direct financial aid or credit that would be repaid after the war.
