After President Trump offered Democrats a $1.8 Trillion coronavirus relief package which included $1,200 stimulus checks and expanded unemployment benefits, House Speaker Pelosi swiftly rejected the deal prompting a backlash from members of her own party.

The Daily Mail points out:

Andrew Yang, a former presidential candidate, tweeted on Saturday: ‘Nancy Pelosi take this deal! Put politics aside people are hurting.’

Dan Pfeiffer, the co-host of the left-leaning podcast ‘Pod Save America’, tweeted: ‘While there are potential risks, Democrats should aggressively pursue a COVID Relief deal with Trump.

‘It’s the right thing to do, but politics can also work in our favor.’

California Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna wrote on Twitter: ‘People in need can’t wait until February,

‘1.8 trillion is significant & more than twice the Obama stimulus. It will allow Biden to start with infrastructure.

‘Obama won in 08 by doing the right thing on TARP instead of what was expedient. Make a deal & put the ball in McConnell court.’

In an email to Democrat colleagues, Pelosi explains that she rejected the plan because it didn’t include a strategy to “crush the virus.”

‘This proposal amounted to one step forward, two steps back,’ Pelosi wrote.

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin along with White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows agreed to continue talks with Schumer and Pelosi in order to reach an agreement on the relief bill.

With so many not able to work or properly run their businesses because of strict lockdowns, especially in Democrat-controlled cities and states, this rejection of a relief package by Pelosi is another slap in the face by hypocritical Democrats.

The American people deserve a better House Speaker than an out-of-touch hypocrite who rejects deals to help the country and then gets to go home to their ivory tower where they enjoy their $13-a-pint ice cream from a $24,000 refrigerator.
