White House Blames Spree Of Smash And Grab Robberies On COVID

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki has become know for dancing around issues as she attempts to explain the hypocrisy and decisions of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

But what she has become equally known for is toeing the Biden Administration line of blaming anything it can on COVID.

On Thursday at her press briefing, she did it again as she blamed COVID for a string of smash and grab robberies sweeping California and other states.

“Big cities are dealing with smash and grab robberies, a record number of police officers have been shot and killed this year. What is President going to do about all this lawlessness?” Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy said.

“I would say that when the President proposed additional funding in his budget, over the funding that had been proposed by the prior president, to increase in support of local police departments, make sure we keep cops on the beat. And we ensure that local communities are working in partnership to crack down on crime and any dangers they see in their communities. So that’s one of the steps,” she said.

Ok, so far so good. That is a reasonable thing to do.

“We’ve also worked with a range of communities across the country on strike forces, as you know, something we’ve talked about in the past. We’re continuing to implement that from the Department of Justice. But the President absolutely believes that community police forces can have an important instrumental effect in helping keep communities safe,” she said.

But then Doocy pressed her on President Biden’s previous position that the pandemic was causing more crime.

“Does the president still think that crime is up because of the pandemic?” he said.

“I think many people have conveyed that and one of the root causes of crime in communities is guns and gun violence. And we’ve seen that statistically around the country,” the press secretary said.

“So when a huge group of criminals organizes themselves, they want to go loot a store, a CVS and Nordstrom, a Home Depot until the shelves are clean. You think that’s because of the pandemic?” the Fox News reporter said.

“I think a root cause in a lot of communities is the pandemic, yes,” she said.

The pandemic is, apparently, causing people to use flash mobs to steal from stores. How you ask? President Biden explained his reasoning for that in June.

“Crime has — historically rises during the summer. And as we emerge from this pandemic with the country opening back up again, the traditional summer’s — summer spike may even be more pronounced than it usually would be,” he said.

Could woefully inept Democrat district attorneys, many of whom had campaigns funded by George Soros, who refuse to prosecute certain crimes and give slaps on the wrists for others be a root cause?

Would Democrat governors and mayors who defund police and allow suspects out from behind bars with no bail be a root cause?

Would the consistent theme of Democrats siding with criminals against the police before they have the facts be a root cause?

Could suspending police officers because they are not vaccinated and leaving police departments short staffed be a root cause?

Nope. It is the pandemic, this administration either believes, or wants you to believe.

Donald Trump addressed the situation in an interview with “Fox & Friends.”

“You know, the media, outside of you people and a few others, the media isn’t reporting this problem but when you have hoards of people running in, kids mostly, running in and stealing, robbing stores where drug chains are closing all their stores in different cities because they can’t keep them open, we just don’t have law enforcement, we’re not allowed to have law enforcement,” he said.
