U.S. Navy to Extend Boot Camp for Two Weeks For Classes On Sexual Assault, Racism, 'Extremism'

The U.S. military continues to go ‘woke’ thanks to left-wing policy assaults by the Biden regime, all of which are getting zero pushback from cowardly flag officers who obviously care more about their own careers than the ability of the force to defend our country from ever-more-powerful enemies.

The latest sign is the U.S. Navy’s decision to tack on two more weeks of basic training, but not to hone combat and job-related skills. Rather, the extra instruction will be in “sexual harassment,” “racism,” and “extremism.”

Yes, because suddenly, the Biden regime has discovered that the U.S. military, which was the first American institution to successfully and fully integrate, is ‘broken.’

The DailyMail.com reports:

The change, the first major overhaul in nearly 20 years, comes as the Navy grapples with major shipboard issues over the years that include failures to address sexual assaults, fires and deadly collisions and the rise of extremism within the ranks.

Rear Adm. Jennifer Couture, who heads the Naval Service Training Command, told the Associated Press that the two extra weeks of classes would reinforce the behavior desired in a US naval officer.

Translation: The Biden regime is working on transforming the military from being a bastion of conservative, pro-America types who vote mostly for Republicans. So expect the other branches to follow the Navy’s lead.

“We’re telling our recruits … here are all of the things that we expect you to do, and here’s how we expect you to behave and act,” Couture told the AP, noting the training will focus on treating others with respect and holding peers to account (which the military already teaches).

“We believe very strongly that those types of behaviors are directly impacting our fighting readiness and the performance of our sailors,” she added.

Maybe the first thing, then, is to stop forcing troops to wear masks. But we digress.

The outlet adds:

The additional two weeks will be devoted to the ‘Sailor for Life’ course phase where recruits would take mentorship classes focused on avoiding bad behavior.

It would also train sailors on how to keep levelheaded and respond to life-threatening situations such as fires and collisions.

Couture said the changes came after Navy leaders realized they needed to reinforce training and character development skills following problems in recent years.

Literally, all of these things are currently taught to sailors, with equivalent training provided to members of other military service branches (obviously, Army recruits are not going to learn shipboard skills, and vice versa, but you get the point).

Here’s the problem, however: The Navy began having trouble in recent years with collisions, shipboard fires, and other issues not because sailors are incompetently trained, but because they are not continually trained.

The Navy’s operational tempo has been insane for far too long; too few ships trying to do too much in terms of providing global security for the U.S. and our allies. And yet, while then-President Donald Trump and a GOP Congress sought to expand the size of the Navy, not enough effort was put into expanding the size of the force so that there is more time for continued education and training on the really important things like combat operations.

Ditto for the other service branches.

So, what’s the real objective here? Obviously — to politicize the military and make it more left-leaning, as the DailyMail.com notes:

The military has also been trying to route out extremism after a number of former and current service members were found taking part in the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill.

Fact: “Took part in” is a misleading phrase; military members who simply attended Trump’s speech, which they are constitutionally empowered to do as American citizens (so long as they are not in uniform) but did not riot are being ‘identified’ as “extremists.”

So tell us again how these Navy boot camp changes aren’t ‘political.’
