Tucker Carlson's New Media Venture Set For Formal Launch After Fox Departure

Former Fox News star-turned-X platform king Tucker Carlson is putting the finishing touches on his new media venture before a former launch in the coming weeks, according to a report on Friday.

The Daily Caller, which Carlson co-founded, reported that his “much anticipated new media company is barreling towards launch. It has begun building a paid subscription base, where subscribers will gain access to members-only content and a collection of behind-the-scenes footage.”

Neil Patel, Daily Caller co-founder and chief executive of the new venture, discussed the launch with Reuters, saying, “We’ve opened our site for membership pre-sales. Once we are comfortable that all of the systems are running well, launch and brand release will follow.”

He did not comment on what subscribers would be charged, Reuters said.

Capitalizing on his popularity among conservative viewers, Carlson is making a move after being removed from Fox News in April due to a defamation lawsuit related to false claims of election fraud. Alongside its subscription-based content, the venture will also distribute free content on X, formerly known as Twitter, and other platforms, as initially reported by the Wall Street Journal.

“Carlson’s August interview with former U.S. President Donald Trump, who had opted out of a Republican primary debate on Fox News the same night, drew more than 74 million views on X, according to statistics on the platform,” Reuters noted.

Carlson reportedly became interested in either joining a competitor network or launching his own media empire after leaving Fox, according to sources who spoke to Axios in May.

“The idea that anyone is going to silence Tucker and prevent him from speaking to his audience is beyond preposterous,” Bryan Freedman, Carlson’s attorney, told Axios about the current ongoing contract dispute with the network.

Axios added that Carlson was planning to establish his own media empire, but his efforts may be hindered because his contract with Fox is not set to expire until January 2025.

The outlet also reported that there have been conversations between Carlson and Elon Musk about potentially working together. Additionally, sources indicated that Carlson was considering a direct-to-consumer model for delivering his content to viewers.
