Trump Beats Biden in 18-34 Age Bracket, New NBC Poll Shows

A recent NBC poll indicates that more young people (aged 18-34) support former President Donald Trump than for President Joe Biden.

The poll says that 46 percent of respondents in this age group would vote for Trump, while 42 percent would vote for Biden in a hypothetical general election matchup. Notably, Trump leads Biden 46 to 44 percent in the same hypothetical scenario.

The poll highlights dissatisfaction with President Biden’s handling of foreign policy, with only 33 percent approval. Specifically addressing the Israel-Hamas conflict, 70 percent of respondents aged 18-34 disapprove of Biden’s performance in managing the situation. This trend is consistent with findings from other polls, such as those conducted by CNN and The New York Times/Siena, indicating a shift toward conservative views among young voters.

Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates emphasized the impact of the Israel-Hamas war on Biden’s approval ratings, characterizing the poll as a “stunner.” He noted that Biden is currently experiencing a low point in his presidency, with a significant portion of his coalition expressing dissatisfaction, particularly in relation to foreign policy.

The NBC poll, conducted between November 10-14 with 1,000 participants, aligns with other recent polls that suggest President Trump is gaining support among young voters. A Fox News poll from the same period indicated Biden with 51 percent of the young vote, while Trump secured 44 percent. A CNN poll from October showed Trump leading by one point at 48 to 47 percent within the 18-34 age group. In comparison, exit polls from the 2020 election by Pew Research showed that young voters favored Biden over Trump by a larger margin (59 to 35 percent for ages 18-29 and 55 to 43 percent for ages 30-49).
